HP, Dell, Apple Laptops with Chronic Video Problems

Many laptops use NVidia video chips, but a manufacturing defect has appeared over the last 20 months or so. What happens, is the video chips overheats due to a weak and improper connection with the heatsink. The chip eventually detaches and loses its electrical connection with the rest of the motherboard.

This results in the computer losing its video entirely. The laptop turns on, the buttons light up, but the screen remains black.

Several laptop manufacturers like DELL, Apple and HP have accepted that there are issues with laptops shipped using a NVIDIA graphics cards. There was a lawsuit against NVidia for this issue.

What are your options? Repair the motherboard yourself, replace the motherboard completely, or throw it away. You can find more information about HP Laptop Black Screen at the link.
